Pregnancy(2025-2026)

 Vocabulary:  Zygote, embryo, fetus, gestation, implantation 

The logical journey continues, despite all the details you've learned around the last class topics:

(reproductive) organs - make - gametes - meet and its called - fertilization - then  we get- pregnant.

Each bolded word above, or "step", has it own "World" of vocabulary that comes from their individual powerpoints:

Organs:  ovary, testicles, penis, uterus, vagina, etc.

Gametes:  spermatozoon, ovum, meiosis, haploid, diploid.

Fertilization: occurs in fallopian tube; ovum lives for 1 day; sperm for 5 days; these two time frames overlap to create a woman's "fertile period".

Pregnancy:  Zygote, embryo, fetus, ovulation, implantation, placenta, umbilical cord.

Fertilization(2025-2026)

Vocabulary:  Fertilization, menstrual cycle, fertile period

Fertilization is the next logical step after Gametes.

"Fertilization" is a vocabulary word first learned in grade 7. 

It happens when plants reproduce sexually - just like us. 

Fertilization is what happens when the DNA from pollen( male gamete )joins with the DNA from an egg( female gamete ).  

In humans, fertilization happens when the DNA from a sperm joins with the DNA from an egg.
